vertical columbarium

This is a project which was divided in two phases. The first phase consisted of analysing, in my case Centre Georges Pompidou, and the second phase was to do an “urban transplant” of that situation.

What I analysed was that Pompidou has two distinct sides. On the one side there is the escalator and the view over the old town, while the other side is dominated by technical details. This creates a huge contrast as Pompidou is facing “one” side. This was something I wanted to take further to a situation in Oslo.

I found a building at Ullevål Hospital which is called the Laboratory building. Here I created the vertical columbarium that is more open towards the graveyard rather than towards Ullevål Hospital.
