Galapagos shading shelter
The Municipality of San Cristobal, Galapagos, asked The Scarcity and Creativity Studio to build a shade shelter with showers as part of the municipal project to tidy up and build facilities in the main beach of Baquerizo Moreno Port. The project was designed and build in a period of slightly more than two weeks.
The reasons for this was that the studio was invited to design a community centre in the Galapagos archipelago. Unfortunately, the correspondent in Galapagos did not fulfil his part of the agreement, and left the SCS studio to opt for another project.
The shading shelter explores different possibilities of bamboo and became an inspiration as an optional building material for many local bypasses, which are used to building with locally produced cement blocks.
